The Australian Veteran Golfers Union National Championship has run annually since 1990 and has become a highlight of the year for many senior golfers. The championships are run under the auspices of the Australian Veteran Golfers Union (AVGU). The objectives of the AVGU are promoting the game of golf generally, assisting and coordinating member States and Territories in the administration of the game of golf for veteran golfers and providing the guidelines for the conduct, control and management of the annual AVGU Championships. Each year the AVGU delegates a member State or Territory to conduct the championship. The 2025 running of the championships will be managed by the Northern Territory Veteran Golfers Association (NTVGA) and run from 1st September to 5th September 2025.
